Montague is the last town in New Jersey before entering Milford, PA, or Port Jervis, NY. This location is too far for some people; for others, this town offers peace, quietness, space, and a lot for your money! Offering a rural lifestyle, Montague is a very charming town surrounded by multiple state parks and in proximity to various outdoor activities.
What I like about this location is that you can spend the day exploring PA or maybe shopping and exploring upstate New York. Living on the border of three states has advantages (like shopping for gas prices).
Real Estate has brought new families to this area, families looking for a first house where taxes are within their budget. As you move away from NYC, you will cross different counties where taxes slowly change and become more appealing to home buyers with one catch: the commute.
HIKING
As a hiker and nature lover, Montague is the perfect location. In the three states, you can find many hiking parks and trails within 30 minutes. Nearly located to the Appalachian Trail and the famous Stokes Estate Forest.

The citizens of Montague and Sussex County, in general, have learned to live with Wildlife and educate the visitors on what to do and avoid. But, most importantly, inform the public about what to fear and what not! In reality, many years of coexistence have proved that we can share our planet with Wildlife without harming each other. So do not be afraid and enjoy the pure air of this location.
LIFESTYLE
What to do? In rural New Jersey, hiking, boating, rafting, zip lining, snowboarding, skiing, gardening, and farming is the moto.
Coming from a city, when I moved to Sussex County, I was a little scared of missing out. So instead, I learn to build a life between tranquility and serenity. Then, when I am ready to dance, I commute to a nearby city.
Handmade treasures, antiques, homemade foods, and organic growing are some of the fantastic products you will find from local families. Delivery? Some not so much; however, if you are in Montague, NJ, you can grab a bite in Port Jervis, Milford, PA, Sparta, or Newton.
TAMERLAINE SANCTUARY
My highlight in Montague is this sanctuary. I remember years ago when they started, and now they have grown thanks to the hard work of their staff, volunteers, and supporters tremendously! I pass this beautiful place regularly and love to see the beautiful farm animals outside. So, if you are looking for something fun to do, come and visit. Kids learn great values through caring for animals. The tours are very affordable, and the funds go directly to support the animals.

Montague es la última ciudad de New Jersey antes de entrar a Milford, PA o a Port Jervis en NY. Esta locación es muy lejana para algunas personas, pero para otras, esta ciudad ofrece paz, serenidad y mucho por poco dinero! Con un estilo de vida rural, Montague es una ciudad rodeada de múltiples parques y actividades al aire libre.
Lo que a mi me gusta de esta área es que puedes pasar el día explorando Pennsylvania o visitando y comprando en el Estado de Nueva York (no en la ciudad). Vivir en New Jersey, pero en el borde con otros dos Estados tiene sus ventajas (como buscar la gasolina mas barata).
En cuanto a bienes raíces, muchas familias han llegado a vivir en esta zona, familias buscando comprar su primera casa y con taxes dentro de su presupuesto. A medida de que nos alejamos de la ciudad de New York atravesamos condados con taxes diferentes, esto atrae la atención de muchos compradores, sin embargo hay algo ha considerar: la distancia.
CAMINATA
A mi me encantan las caminatas como amante de la Naturaleza que soy, y Montague es la locación perfecta para ello. En los tres Estados se pueden encontrar parques estatales, todos localizados a 30 minutos de distancia. El muy famoso Apalachian Trail y el Stokes Forest son unos de ellos.
¿Y hay animales? Claro que sí. Muchos y muy diversos.
Los ciudadanos de Montague y del condado de Sussex en general, han aprendido a vivir con los animales y ayudan a educar a los visitantes en qué hacer y que no. Lo más importante, informan a los visitantes qué temer y que no! Después de tantos años de coexistencia con los animales, se ha comprobado que podemos vivir en armonía sin hacer daño el uno al otro. Así que no tenga temor y disfrute el aire puro que este lugar ofrece.
ESTILO DE VIDA
¿Qué actividades hay? En la zona rural de New Jersey, caminar, canotaje, ziplining, acampar, esquiar, sembrar es el estilo de vida.
Cuando dejé la ciudad para mudarme al área de Sussex, tenia temor de aburrirme. Sin embargo, encontré la manera de construir una vida llena de tranquilidad y paz. Cuándo quiero ir a bailar o a un sitio con más gente, manejo a una ciudad cercana y listo!
En esta área encuentras manualidades, comida casera, antiguedades, comida orgánica, todos hechos por ciudadanos locales. ¿Domicilio de comida? Muy limitado. Pero se puede ir a Milford, Port Jervis, Newton o Sparta y probar algo nuevo.
El SANTUARIO DE ANIMALES DE GRANJA TAMERLAND
Quiero hacer especial honor a este lugar, mi favorito en Montague. Recuerdo hace muchos años cuando comenzaron y hoy han crecido muchísimo gracias a la ayuda de sus miembros, sus voluntarios y todos aquellos que apoyan financieramente. Cada vez que paso por aquí, me encanta ver a todos los animales afuera, en tranquilidad. Así que si esta buscando algo por hacer, algo diferente, visite este lugar. Los niños aprenden cosas maravillosas cuando aprenden a querer y a respetar los animales. Los fees no son muy costosos y esos fondos se usan para ayudar a más animales.
